It's so important to take good care of your teeth. Proper care will help you to avoid all sorts of issues. Here, you will be able to learn about a few of the most common problems you can find yourself dealing with if you aren't regularly brushing and flossing.

Cavities

One of the big reasons for caring for your teeth is to avoid cavities. When you get a small cavity, you will go in to see the dentist and they will fill it, then remind you about the importance of proper dental care. At this point, you can take their advice and hopefully end up fending off future cavities, or you can agree to take better care of your teeth and ignore their advice the minute you get home. If you do the latter, then you probably have a lot more cavities in your future. As cavities get bigger they can eventually become rotted teeth, and you can end up dealing with exposed nerves, teeth that just end up breaking, and more. Not brushing your teeth regularly is a good way to almost guarantee a lifetime of dental issues in your future.

Bad breath

While some people aren't all that scared about the fact that they can have cavities, tooth decay, and a lot of other dental problems in their future if they don't clean up their dental act, learning that bad dental care can make their breath stinks is what gets them. The thought that they can end up with repulsive breath is the real attention-getter. The truth is that yes, you can definitely end up having extremely bad breath when you don't brush, floss, or even use mouthwash on a regular basis. The plaque on your teeth and tongue will give you bad breath. You can also can end up with gum disease, which can make your breath even worse.

Gum disease

Gum disease may not be as hard for you to get as you may think. Neglecting your dental care for even a short period of time can allow gum disease to move in on your mouth. A few of the first signs of gum disease can include red gums, bleeding when you brush, and yes, bad breath. Any time you think you may have the onset of gum disease symptoms, you want to run, not walk, to your dentist. The sooner you start treatment, the less invasive it will be and the less time it may take for you to recover from it.
